I have worked with the horizontal and the vertical, which together make a cross. It's not like a religious cross. The horizontal is not just the horizon and the vertical is not just a figure. It is a figure and it is the horizon, but it is more than that. It's a starting place, a landmark, and in my work it catches light or pigment. It is a physical and material connection to a knowing of the world.

This is a ghost trap from Tibet. The trap is also known as a Namkhar, which means sky in Tibetan. The trap serves many purposes, not just the protection from ghosts.
